Tool and Weapon Marks

Toolmarks

Tool marks are made when a hard surface is brought into forcible contact with a softer material, for example, the jaws of wire cutters on a wire. Our forensic toolmark experts can examine surface marks microscopically and compare them to controlled test marks which may enable us to link or exclude the marks recovered from an incident with a particular tool or weapon. Our tool mark experts can examine photographs of surface wounds caused by stamping or strikes from hard objects and determine if these can be linked to a particular pair of shoes or weapon.
