Alison has worked with Cellmark since 2018 as a Reporting Scientist in Forensic Anthropology and has been the SFS’s Team Leader since 2019. She is professionally certified by the Royal Anthropological Institute (RAI) as a level 2 Forensic Anthropologist (FAII). As an experienced Forensic Reporting Scientist, Alison undertakes a wide range of casework including cases involving the excavation and examination of decomposed, burnt, fragmented and skeletalised remains for police and coroners’ investigations. She is currently working towards becoming a Chartered Forensic Anthropologist by being mentored in complex scene, mortuary and laboratory examinations.
Alison holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Forensic Anthropology from the University of Leicester and a first-class Bachelor of Science degree (BSc Hons) in Forensic Anthropology from the University of Dundee. She has over 15 years’ experience in Forensic Anthropology casework and has a concurrent 5 years of experience as a Senior Lecturer and Research Associate, conducting research and teaching in the field of forensic anthropology at Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Leicester.
Alison’s PhD focused on the application of Postmortem Computed Tomography (PMCT) in forensic anthropological examinations and her extensive knowledge in this area resulted in her being part of the UK DVI radiology team in multiple large scale mass fatality incidents.
