Tool & Weapon Marks
Tool marks are made when a hard surface is brought into forcible contact with a softer material, for example, wire cutters on a wire. We can examine these microscopically with controlled test marks which may enable us to link or exclude the marks recovered from the incident with a particular tool or weapon. They also include stab or other wounds on a human body, for example caused by stamping or strikes from hard objects. Our firearms experts can normally comment on characteristic bullet and shotgun wounds.
