Tool marks are made when a hard surface is brought into forcible contact with a softer material, for example, the jaws of wire cutters on a wire.áOur tool mark expertsácan examine surface marks microscopically and compare them to controlled test marks which may enable us to link or exclude the marks recovered from an incident with a particular tool or weapon.á Our tool mark expertsácan examine photographs of surface wounds caused by stamping or strikes from hard objects and determine if these can be linked to a particular pair of shoes or weapon.
