DNA Profiling
The ability to link an individual to an incident through DNA profiling means that it has become widely used and often is a key element of forensic evidence in criminal cases. The discriminating power of DNA profiling evidence means that it is critical to consider the circumstances as to where and how DNA from specific individuals could have become present at the scene of the incident.
Our 5 DNA specialists have extensive casework experience in:
- Identification and recovery of biological material.
- DNA profiling (including Low Copy Number).
- Interpretation of DNA profiling results in relation to criminal proceedings, including assessment of representative sampling, transfer and persistence issues.
- Paternity testing.
We also have a fully validated DNA profiling laboratory enabling us to provide high quality, rapid DNA analysis of conventional biological samples such as blood, semen, saliva and hairs. Our highly sensitive trace protocols also allow DNA profiling from contact samples such as those deposited through simple contact for example on drugs wraps, gear-sticks and steering wheels.
